Book Description
Surveyor Theory (I Year) is an English medium trade theory book by Abhishek Arya for first-year ITI Surveyor trainees following the NCVT course. The book begins with the fundamental principles and classification of surveying, scales, errors, units and safety, then covers chain surveying (chaining, offsets, obstacles, field book, conventional signs) and compass surveying (bearings, fore and back bearing, magnetic declination, prismatic and surveyor compass, local attraction, traversing and closing error). Plane table surveying, levelling with staff readings, gradients and curvature and refraction, and contour surveying follow. Later chapters explain the theodolite (types, adjustments, horizontal and vertical angles, theodolite traverse, Gale's traverse table, area by coordinates), curve and road surveying with simple and transition curves and highway alignment, tacheometry and triangulation, and modern instruments such as the digital theodolite, total station, GPS and photogrammetry. The last section introduces AutoCAD commands, estimating a building, and glossaries of building construction and irrigation engineering. In 200 pages, it gives ITI Surveyor trainees a complete first-year theory text for classwork and exam preparation.
